The great photographers on the internet
No Escape
The result of a 12 hour shoot, this image was both great fun and extremely
intense to prepare. I wanted it to have a lively circus feel, combining
vivid colours with superhero villain characters.
The image features Chris Cross, escape artist, as himself and Libby
as his saucy captor keeping him under lock and key. Chris is known for
getting out of tight spots so we had him meet his match, looking trapped
for once.
Although we've seen him get out of much trickier situations - so what's
Libby got that's really holding him then?
Digital Arts Magazine
"Space Age" and "Enchanted Garden" are showcased in June's edition of
Digital
Arts Magazine, my favourite creative industries mag.
Grab a copy at WHSmith, it's a known cure for creative block!
Crushed Nuts
The indulgence of ice cream, it's a sweet and sexy thing that I wanted
to shine a bright light on. This had to be a quick shoot! We had people
refilling melting cones between takes, wiping up ice cream as it dripped
all over the set. Shortly after we got the final shot all the props
had defrosted and the model was standing in a mushy puddle of ice cream,
cake decorations and wafers.
Crushed nuts with that sir?
Deluded Diner
The stinkiest shoot we've ever done thanks to the raw and gutted rainbow
trout as main prop. This was part of a three picture set, a story about
a delusional begger girl taking her own food to a restaurant and then
removing her clothes and her hat to beg for coins.
I had planned to have several small fish protruding from the models
bra but due to popular demand decided to use tomatoes instead. To complete
the look I brought in an extraordinary hat from Elizabeth
Parker Hats.
Alternative Magazine
This picture, "Under command", was shot back in July '07. I wanted to
illustrate subservience portrayed in an angel taking commands from above.
In March '08 Alternative
Magazine used it to feature Missy Malone, a Scottish burlesque dancer.
Electron Girl
Inspired by the electronic genius of Tesla, this shot shows a fully
charged, high voltage Electron Girl, complete with shocked up hair.
I built a set to represent an electric fence with sparking jump leads.
A lot of the parts came from digging around in the garage eg car ramps
and metal brackets. The fence was hand made from over 50 meters of wire
and 6 rolls of meshing.

The whole thing is metal and gritty which contrasts against my other
synthetic backgrounds which are generally softer and more delicate.
Candy Cakes
Ingredients:
6 bags industrial cotton wool
5 cans spray paint
4 packets cake decorations
1 cake with icing
8 bags hair extensions
1 golden arch
1 half naked model
Wall mount cotton wool, spread evenly and shape into clouds. Add a generous
amount of spray paint, cover model in cake decorations. Add extensions
to the hair, set cake into place and connect model to arch. Then leave
for 30 minutes. Here's one we prepared earlier
Salon Business Magazine
Sometimes it all falls together as if by magic! "Candy Man" gained quite
a bit of attention and we were of course delighted when Salon
Business Magazine chose it for their February front cover. Torture
Garden also used the image for the front of their Valentines flyer
this year. "Dream of time" is the second shot featured inside Salon
Business.
Enchanted Garden
The intensity and texture of this shot got a lot of people asking if it
was computer generated, it wasn't.
In fact EOS Magazine
are featuring the shot in their "How was it shot" section and my editorial
explains the photo technique in detail.
The main challenge with the set was to make it appear convincing and detailed.
It was a matter of representing the organic textures, vibrant greens and
shady depths we find in the woods.
The finished picture involved little retouching. Aside from colour tweaking
and adding 2 hovering dragonflies, all that remained was a gentle skin
clean up and to blend away the line where the prosthetic ear connected
to the models ear.
Space Age
I've always enjoyed quality science fiction, anything to do with other
worlds will hold my attention. When I set about conceptualising this image
I wanted to give it a distinct 40's feel, an old fashioned look at space
adventure. And it had to be glossy, even reflective. Thanks to Ian O'Donnell
at GirlArmour.com
I had the outfit that would act as the centrepoint. Yana and I then searched
the shelves of B&Q for pipes and gold spray paint to pull the set together.
The shoot was demanding on everyone involved but it finally came to fruition
and was everything I had hoped for. We even received a congratulatory
email from Chris
Achilleos, the renowned illustrator for Star Trek and Dr. Who to name
but a couple of his achievements.
Pantene Highlights
Aside from concept model photography I also retouch for some major cosmetics brands.
I designed the microsite, and retouched the model shots for Pantene's
Highlights campaign.
The print media can be seen in international glossy magazines, billboards
etc. The microsite can be seen at Pantene's website.

Max Factor
Shortly after Pantene's campaign I worked for Max
Factor. The project included retouching their new Lipfinity and Miracle
Touch model shots, assigning new brand guidlines and designing their ad
campaigns.
